Cape District hires spring, fall coaches The Cape Henlopen Board of Education hired the following coaches for Cape Henlopen High School on Jan. 25: George Glenn, head football; Brian Donahue, as- sistant football; Ruth Sponaugle Skoglund, head field hockey; Mike Eisenhour, assitant field hockey; John Myers, head girls' soccer; Steve Wolak, co-head golf; Jerry Dorneman, co-head golf; Wacren Beideman, volunteer girls' soccer; Chip Davis, assis- tant softball; and Francis Pollock, head cross country. The board hired the following coaches for Milton Middle School: John Walsh, co-head football; Joseph Barranco, co- head football; Mike Dominguez, head soccer; and Randy Redard, assistant soccer. At its Feb. 1 special meeting, the board also hired Tim Mahoney as the co-assistant lacrosse coach and John Myers for the position of head boys' soccer coach at Cape Henlopen High School. CHHS represents northern division The Cape Henlopen Vikings boys' basketball team will repre- sent the Northern Division in the Henlopen Conference Boys' Bas- ketball Championship Game to be played at Sussex Technical High School on Wednesday, Feb. 28 starting at 7:30 p.m. All tickets are $4 for the game. Tickets will go on sale Friday, Feb. 23 from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Cape Henlopen students will be permitted to buy tickets during their lunch time and after school. Anyone who has a question about tickets for the game may call Cape Henlopen Athletic Director Marge Peck at 645-7099. Milton Little League breakfast postponed The Milton Little League's Valentine Breakfast is postponed and will be held Sunday, Feb. 25 at Milton Fire Hall from 7 a.m.- noon. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under. The breakfast is all you can eat and tickets may be purchased from any member or by calling 684- 3201. Proceeds will benefit the Milton Little League. DE 4-H Horse Bowl winners named Youth participants from Delaware and Maryland tested their horse knowledge in the an- nual Delaware 4-H Horse Bowl competition held at Delaware State University, Feb. 10. The event allowed participants to demonstrate their knowledge of equine anatomy, diseases, care and management practices, horse- manship and equitation. Last year, at age 8, Jessica played in four tournaments sanctioned by the Delaware District/Middle States Section of the United States Tennis Association. She won one of the tournaments and was runner-up in two of the tournaments. ages 8-10, first place: Westville Buckaroos-Mallory Dill, Lacey Dixon, and Michael Crowe; sec- ond place: Sussex County Gray Ponies-Lyle Neal, Angie Carroll, Megan Moore, and Brittany Tru- itt; and third place: Country All Stars-Cheyanne Pritchard, Rachel Bullock, Cara Bullock and Steven Melling. Ages 11-13, first place: Wild- west Villagers-Tyla Dill, Amanda Hastings, Christy Gustafson and Katie Dixon; second place: Pony Express-Jessica Horan, Matt O'Connell, Mike Gowl and Christin Vickers; and third place: Westville Fillies-Kim Eck, Becky Thompson and Annie Crowe. Winners for ages 14 and older, first place: Pony Express-Penny Potter, Aubrey Tarrant, Jennifer Kennedy and Lori O'Connell; second place: Sussex County Se- niors-Doug Neal, Becki Barker and Shannon McLean; and third place: Middletown FFA-Jackie Cusatia, Laura Dieffenbach, Stacey Allen and Donna Brovey. While at Lock Haven, Lisawas also a member of the varsity lacrosse and field hockey teams. As a member of the field hockey teamshe played on two NCAA Di- vision I1 championship teams, was twice named to the NCAA all tournament team and was first team All America her senior sea- son. Lisa currently resides in Re- hoboth Beach and is substitute teaching at several local schools. She is pursuing a career in teach- ing and would also like to coach lacrosse, field hockey or softball at the scholastic level. Racing season begins on Delmarva The Georgetown Speedway kicked off its racing season with a Motorsports Mania show at Salis- bury Centre recently to benefit Make a Wish Foundation. The event featured a drawing for a pair of passes to the May 18 show and among the winners were Glen Peck of Lewes and George Hnosko of Milton. Sussex Central student receives B.S. degree Lisa Klopp, a 1991 Sussex Cen- tral graduate, received her B.S. degree from Lock Haven Univer- sity at the recent winter com- mence ceremony. Lisa received her degree in education and has already passed her certification examination for teaching. Hoop shoot winners Both Lindsey Williams, age 11 (left), and her sister Lisa, age eight, are advancing on to the state level of basket- ball shoot off in Berlin, Md., having won in their age group at the district shoot off held recently by the Cape Heniopen Elks Lodge. They will compete against young people from Maryland, Delaware and Washington, D.C. in Frederick, Md. on Feb. 17. Winners of the state competition will then ad- vance to the regional shoot off in Wheeling, W.Va. in March. The national level will take place in Indlnnapo- lis, In. in April. 00Enn00v SUPPLY =.
