Frank J. Vicari,
automobile businessman
Frank J. Vicari, 73, of Long
Neck and formerly of New York,
died Monday, April 10, 2000, of
heart failure at Beebe Medical
Center, Lewes.
Mr. Vicari was retired from the
automobile business and was a
member of the Lewes R.C. Club.
He is survived by his wife of 31
years, Anita Vicari; a daughter,
Patricia Werner of Cherry Hill,
N.J.; three sons, Frank Jr. of Se-
tauket, N.Y., David of Bingham-
ton, N.Y. and Andrew of Hol-
brook, N.Y.; and seven grandchil-
dren. Funeral services were held
at Melson Funeral Services, Long
Neck Road, with burial private.
William Wolfe White II,
insurance agency owner
William Wolfe White II, 65, of
Lewes, died recently at his home
in his wife's arms and surrounded
by his children.
Mr. White retired in 1993 after
38 years as the owner and opera-
tor of Kenneth White Insurance
Agency on Sa-
vannah Road
in Lewes. Af-
ter retirement
he worked in
the security
department at
Beebe Medical
Center, and
later as a vol-
unteer for the WHITE
hospital. He was a life member of
the Lewes Volunteer Fire Depart-
ment; lifetime member of the
Lower Delaware Shield and
Square Club; member and 32nd

al Park behind the library and will
be followed with refreshments
and children's activities.
Miss Pam [Batten] will lead
storytime and selections will fea-
ture themes appropriate for Earth
Day. Miss Dot [Hurd] will guide
children in making bird feeders
using pine cones, peanut butter
and bird seed. All activities are
free of charge.
The Milton Library opened the
125th anniversary year with a re-
ception which featured comments
by town and county elected offi-
cials and state and county library
officials.
Complimentary stickers and
pens are some of the gifts that li-
brary visitors will receive during
the year. Hopkins said that cele-
bration events are scheduled
throughout the year.
This year is the 31st observance
of Earth Day. The national event
was initiated after U.S. Senator
Gaylord Nelson suggested col-
leges dedicate a day to environ-
mental education. Since then,
degree mason of the Jefferson
Lodge, Lewes; a veteran of the
U.S. Navy; and a member of
American Legion Post 24. He en-
joyed building and restoring mod-
el ships and had a nautical muse-
um in his home. He liked antiques
and antique cars and was involved
in their restoration. He was very
fond of Lewes and being at the
beach along with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 25
years, Margaret Phipps White;
two sons, William W. White III of
Annapolis, Md. and William W.
White IV of Wilmington; two
daughters, Virginia P. White
Yocusof Tuckerton, N.J. and Lisa
Lee of Seaford; and six grandchil-
dren.
Services were held at St. Peter's
Episcopal Church, and Masonic
services were held at Parsell Fu-
neral Homes, Lewes, with burial
in Bethel Methodist Cemetery,
Lewes. Contributions are suggest-
ed to St. Peter's Episcopal
Church, Lewes, DE 19958.
Duane J. Schierer,
charter Lodge member
Duane J. Schierer, 79, of
Wyoming, died Saturday, April 8,
2000, at home.
Mr. Schierer worked for Lib-
by's McNeil and Libby for 20
years, both in Houston and
Wyoming, and Kane Miller Corp.
in Queen Anne, Md., and Cheri-
ton, Va. He had been an usher at
Holy Cross Church in Dover; a
charter member of Moose Lodge
203 of Wyoming; a member of
the Walter Fox Post 2 American
Legion of Dover; a life member
of the VFW of Camden; and a
member of the Delaware Farm
Bureau. -,
He is survived by his wife, Au-
drey D. Schierer of Wyoming; a
son and daughter-in-law, Wayne

dents, business people and school
children have observed April 22
with natural resource preservation
activities, informational gather-
ings and celebrations of nature
and spring.

Chris Persson Spanish,
truck driver
Chris Persson Spanish, 42, of
Bridgeville, died after a long ill-
ness Thursday, April 6, 2000.
Mr. Spanish served in the U.S.
Navy during the 1970s. He
worked as-an over-.the=road truck
driver and welder most of his life.
He worked for Messick and Gray
Construction until recently. He
was preceded in death by his
mother, Esther Peterson Spanish,
in 1980, and his father, William
C. Spanish, in 1992.
He is survived by a daughter,
Janice Spanish of Federalsburg,
Md.; five brothers, Larry of Safe-
ty Harbor, Fla., Carl W. of Lewes,
Jimmy E. of Canoga Park, Calif.
and William C. and John, both of
Bridgeville; a sister, Nancy E.
Lyons of Seaford; a longtime
companion, Cheryl B. Russell of
Bridgeville; two nieces and four
nephews. Services were held at
Hardesty Funeral Home,
Bridgeville, with burial in Cokes-
bury Cemetery, Georgetown.

Electa A. Kunsman, 81, Of Re-
hoboth Beach, died Tuesday,
April 4, 2000, of heart failure at
Berlin Nursing Home.
Mrs. Kunsman was a home-
maker and worked for J.C. Stam-
per Jewelers of Rehoboth for
many years. She was a 50-year
member of Epworth United
Methodist Church in Rehoboth
Beach.
She is survived by her husband
of 68 years, Granville Kunsman; a
daughter, Alma Gray of Frank-
ford; a brother, Harris B. Quillen
of Bishopville, Md.; a sister,
Sarah Hickman of Frankford; two
grandchildren, Dayna L. Mitchell
of Frankford and David L. Gray
of North Ridgeville, Oh.; and two
great-grandchildren, Dustin

retired steamfitter
Frank A. Thomas Jr., 83 of
Long Neck and formerly of Allen-
wood, N.J. and Forestville, Md.,
died Thursday, April 6, 2000, of
heart failure in Beebe Medical
Center.
Mr. Thomas was a steamfitter-
welder for the Bureau of Engrav-
ing & Printing in Washington,
D.C. for 25 years, retiring in
1977. He was a.32nd degree Ma-
son and past master of Centennial
Lodge 174 of Upper Marlboro,
son, Frank A. III,. in 1999.
He is survived by his wife of 60
years, Karen "Kit" C. Thomas; a
son, Kevin and his wife Kathy of
Mechanicsville, Md.; a daughter,
Karen L. Tinkham and her hus-
band William of Millsboro; a
daughter-in-law, Elaine Thomas
of Columbia, Md.; eight grand-
children, Carter, Thomas and
Robert Zierden, Adam, Jordon
and Christine Thomas; Eric Tin-
kham and Lisa Tinkham Dickson;
a great-grandson, Robert Zierden

Margaret Mintzer,
Lewes homemaker
Margaret Mintzer, 81, of Lewes
and formerly of Williamsport, Pa.,
died Saturday, April 1, 2000, of
cancer at home. Mrs. Mintzer was
a homemaker. She was preceded
in death by her husband, John H.
Mintzer, in 1982. She is survived
by a son, John H. Jr. of Lewes.
A memorial service was held at
St. Boniface Catholic Church,
Williamsport, Pa.
