BayCenter's Buzz 2K benefits fallen friend
The BayCenter in Dewey Beach hosted Buzz 2K Saturday night, April 8, a benefit concert
co-sponsored by the 24 Groove store and War Zone Productions. The show benefits projects
in memory of David E. Wargo, who was killed in a 1999 automobile accident, according to
Brandon Mays, owner of 24 Groove in Dewey Beach. The concert featured the acts Comet vs.
Planet, the Vybe and C-Knowledge of the Digable Planets. Mays said the benefit went very
well, although they fell short of the amount of money they had hoped to raise. However, some
of the personnel involved decided to donate extra money toward the cause and they plan to
have a bench placed in Tidbury Park in Kent County in Wargo's memory. "You take a big risk
when you put on a show of this caliber," said Mays, but we plan to hold an event in his memo-
ry every year. Shown above are some of the entertainers who performed that evening: (back
row, I-r) jee eye zee and Z-Boy; (middle) Mike Alicknavitch and Kai Chi; and (front row) J
Truth Allah, C-Knowledge and Jahsun. Performers not shown include Loretta Gooden, Frank
May, Carl Turner and Jae Meeks.
