Del Tech library adds online Spanish encyclopedia
An online Spanish-language encyclopedia is the newest resource
available at the Stephen J. Betze Library on the Owens Campus of
Delaware Tech.
The "Nueva Enciclopedia Curubre en linea" includes approximately
15,000 articles, 6,500 photographs, and over 15,000 intemet links in ad-
dition to fact boxes, tables, maps, flags and sound files.
Content focuses on the Spanish-speaking peoples and cultures of the
Americas.
The encyclopedia is updated quarterly; internet links are. updated
monthly to kee p up with ever-changing web sites.
"Given the growing Hispanic population in Sussex County, we decid-
ed that this encyclopedia would be a valuable reference for the college
to provide to the community," said assistant-librarian Mary Sue Dru-
gash.

er resources on hand at the campus library, call 856-9033

Everything is 'Write by the Sea' in Cape district
Write by the Sea, a celebration of reading and writing, was held May 10 as the First Annual
Symposium for Cape Hen]open School District.
Sixth grade students from Milton Middle, Lewes Middle and Rehoboth Elementary Schools
gathered at RES for a day of writing, reading and acting. Language Arts teachers, Diane AI-
banese of Milton, Gaff Mack of RES and Evelyn Travis of Lewes, worked with Cape District
representatives, Kathy Pettigout and Jane Allen Golde, to produce the event.
Doug James, the acclaimed Rehoboth Beach songwriter pictured above left, was the
keynote speaker. James shared his road to success and encouraged students to explore mul-
tiple forms of writing - poetry, songs, fiction, research. He reiterated the time honored mes-
sage: if you want to write, read, especially classic literature, mythology and the Bible. "Study
vocabulary, that is your muscle," he said.
Pictured above, the students spent themorning sharing memory writing pieces and creat-
ing original compositions. Shown (l-r) are Mary Sing, Brenna Fleming and Liz Mazzotto of
Lewes Middle School.
