Renowned artist and teacher
Cynthia Swanson will teach a spe-
cial four-day workshop on "Basic
Oil Painting" at the Rehoboth Art
League from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30
p.m., Wednesday through Satur-
day, June 21-24.
Swanson graduated from the
Philadelphia College of Art with
her bachelor of fine art and then
studied oil painting under scholar-
ship with noted Delaware artist
Edward Loper in Wilmington. An
award-winning exhibitor in Penn-
sylvania and Delaware, she is self-
employed, drawing architectural
renderings of houses, barns and
commercial buildings and creat-
ing presentational drawings for
custom home builders.
Swanson's oil workshop will
concentrate on learning composi-
tion, techniques and color theory
with the end result of finishing a
realist still life.
Cost of the class is $50 for
members and $60 for non-mem-
bers. Supplies needed are a pre-
pared canvas, stretched and ges-
soed; a disposable palette; two
jars with lids; masking tape; rags;
bar of soap and brushes, There is
a material fee of $5 to be paid di-
rectly to the teacher, which in-
cludes oil paints and turpentine.
Early registration is recom-
mended because class size is lim-
ited.
