42 - CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, June 9 - June 15, 2000
Bob Bowden photos
Above, Shea Sugrue, age one-and-a-half, braves a balance
beam at the John Waples Memorial Playground during
Dewey Fun Day on Saturday, June 3, although she holds on
tightly to her mom Shannon's hand.
Above, Erie Boyd of Lewes
and Anna Frederick of Re-
hoboth Beach, both four°
and-half, catch up on the lat-
est gossip at the old sandbox
during Fun Day.
Anna, by the way, is the
proud granddaughter of
Sports Editor Dave Freder-
ick.
At left, Ann Wilkins swings
her 22-month-old grand-
daughter Carey Karl, while
at right, Julianna Marsh, 11
months, of Rehoboth Beach,
dangles in the wind during
the flawless spring day.
Above, Norm Sugrue Jr. is more than happy to add a bag of
ice to Mayor Bob Frederick's dunking bath during Dewey
Fun Day. Local businessman Chip Hearn was also willing to
oblige an additional $5 for the ice. Below, the inevitable oc-
curs and Mayor Bob goes into the drink, all for a good cause,
as the Dewey Beach Lions Club, of which he is a member,
hosts the event each year.
