Jtme 11 program to benefit local AIDS organizations The first annual Dining Out at the Beach will be held Sunday, June 11, at Delaware beaches. This new version of the 10-year- old event, Dining Out for Life, is sponsored by AIDS Delaware, Delaware Today magazine, Agouron Pharmaceuticals and the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce. "Dining Out is a fun and easy way for the community to get in- volved and help support us," said John Baker, deputy director of AIDS Delaware. "Until now, beach restaurants haven't been able to join in because the event occurs each year in March, the off-season for beach businesses." The high number of restaurants at the Delaware beaches inspired AIDS Delaware to create the new event, Baker said. According to Carol Everhart, director of the Re- hoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce, Re- hoboth has nearly 100 eateries in one square mile. Proceeds from the event will benefit both AIDS Delaware and P.L.Active, a Sussex County so- cial services organization for those infected with HIV or AIDS. P.L.Active assisted in coordinat- ing the event. Eleven of the shoreline's best gourmet, family and fun restau- rants will participate, donating 33 percent of all receipts generated June 11. Restaurants in Rehoboth are the Back Porch, Blue Moon, Celsius, Cloud 9, Dogfish Head Brewing & Eats, Espuma and Plum Loco. In Bethany Beach and Lewes, participating restaurants include The Buttery, DiFebo's Caf6, The Parkway and the Second Street Grill. Every diner will have the op- portunity to win a grand prize of a Myrtle Beach weekend getaway for two. One subscription to Delaware Today will be given away at each participating restau- rant. In addition, local radio, sta- tion JANE will be at Dogfish Head Brewing & Eats from 6 to 8 p.m. For more information, call 302- 652-6776, or visit <www.aids- delaware.org>.
