Asthma camp for youth
scheduled June 18-20
Children ages 8 to 12 are invit-
ed to come learn about managing
their asthma by attending Spacer
Camp 2000 at Bayhealth-Kent
General Hospital. The program is
scheduled for Sunday through
Tuesday, June 18-20, on the Scull
Mansion Lawn located directly
across from the main campus of
Kent General. The first day is an
orientation program with parents
and students, followed by two
days of camp activities.
Children with asthma will be
divided into small, age-specific
groups and will participate in dif-
ferent arts and crafts activities.
Asthma education will be inte-
grated throughout these activities.
Campers will learn breathing
techniques, asthma triggers, tips
on remaining physically active
and maintaining a positive atti-
tude.
Bayhealth nurse practitioners,
nurses, child life therapists and
respiration therapists will work
with the children throughout this
program, along with volunteers
from the Delaware Lung Associa-
tion. Consumer Health Education
and Respiratory Care Depart-
ments and the Delaware American
Lung Association are teaming up
to present this program.

Beebe celebrates new
center with Family Day
Beebe Medical Center will host
a day of family fun from 10 a.m.
to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 17, at its
new Millsboro Walk-in Health
Center, 230 Mitchell St. - across
from the bowling alley.
During the celebration, there
will be a remote broadcast with
WGMD Radio and many activi-
ties for children, including a
moon bounce, a bell striker,
minigolf, and minitrain rides.
Musical entertainment will be
provided by the Back Bay Strum-
mers from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.,
and hot dogs and lemonade will
be sold as a fundraiser for the Oak
Orchard Boys & Girls Club.

'The Yellow Dress' to
be performed June 15
Beebe Medical Center will host
a performance of "The Yellow
Dress," a short play that addresses
the issue of domestic violence.
The play will be at 7:30 p.m.,
Thursday, June 15, in the hospi-
tal's classrooms 2 and 3.
Beebe offers diabet
education classes
Beebe Medical Center offers di-
abetes education classes for dia-
betics and their families. Topics
include day-to-day disease con-
trol, diabetes symptoms, disease
prevention and treatment for com-
plications. The cost is $125 for a
series of seven classes. For more

Aneurysm screenings
offered in June
Beebe Medical Center's vascu-
lar laboratory offers free, aortic
abdominal aneurysm screenings
by appointment. Men who want
to be tested must be between 50
and 75, have a history of cigarette
smoking, hypertension, coronary
artery disease and/or a family his-
tory of aortic aneurysm. Females
must have a positive history of
aneurysm. To schedule an ap-
