CAPE GAZETTE, Friday , Jmae 9 - Jmae 15, 2000.67 First Street Station announces Name the Mural contest The newest arrival at First Street Station, a beach mural by renowned artist Matt Wil- Icy, now graces the wall space in the First Street Station courtyard, located just off Rehoboth Avenue. Willey designed and completed the mural in May. Featuring the ocean and sky along with Delaware shrubs and trees, the mural adds a picturesque scene to the already unique shopping complex. "The intense color scheme of the mural fit the colors of First Street Station/' Willey said. As part of the mural project, First Street Station has announced a Name the Mural contest. During the month of June, visitors have the opportunity to name the mural and win a $100 shopping spree at First Street Station. From now until July 7, visitors can pick up an entry form at any of First Street Sta- tion's 20 stores and drop it in the drop box next to the mural. The contest is open to people of all ages. The name should be unique and convey the essence of the mural. On Saturday, July 15, the winner will be announced and his or her name will be displayed on a plaque by the mural. Wiiley received a bachelor of fine arts degree from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts University in 1993. During the past seven years, he has worked as an artist creating murals up and down the east coast, in homes and retail stores. He al- so paints portraits and exhibits his own work. He recently painted the Purple Parrot Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach. Willey said he began painting at age five because his mother was a painter. "I can't not paint/' he said. The Washington, D.C. resident said he was enthusiastic about this mural because he got to "be outside in the springtime at the beach:' First Street Station, located at First Street and Rehoboth Avenue, has more than 20 tax-free specialty shops. Bell Atlantic customers get basic reductions Most Bell Atlantic customers in Delaware will soon see lower lo- cal telephone service rates as the result of several decisions made recently by the Delaware Public Service Commission (PSC). The new rates are effective July 1. In one decision, the PSC ap- proved rate reductions for resi- dence and business Touch-Tone service and carrier access charges totaling approximately $486.000 a year. Bell Atlantic-Delaware is making the reductions under the Telecommunications Technology Investment Act (TTIA). There have been no basic rate increases in the six years since Bell At- lantic-Delaware elected to be gov- emed under the TTIA and in fact, these rates have decreased for three straight years. In another decision, the PSC- approved changes in classifica- tions for local usage and miscella- neous services affecting a small number of customers. These changes, coupled with the TTIA reduction, result in overall net rate reduction to consumers of $123,000. Bob Bolen phote.
