74 - CAPE GAZETYE, Friday, June 9 - June 15, 2000 ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT Steppin' Out Apartment Three knocking at Dogfish on June 9 Macmillan and Nik Chisholm, both lauded for strong lead vocals, Apartment Three also includes co- founder and drummer Francis Castagnetti Jr., bassist Bill Egan and electric guitarist Jeff Bellucci. The band's first album, "Miles to Go," was released in 1996. The latest CD was produced by the band's own label, High Rise Records, with help from Grammy nominated producer Tom Waltz. A growing fan base has fol- lowed the band from its Maine roots. Drawing comparisons with the likes of Dave Matthews Band, Blind Melon and Blues Traveler, listeners will have a difficult time categorizing its particular style, other than to call it "eclectic," a term frequently used to describe the the group. Opening with the light and airy "She Feels," By Jen Ellingsworth The quintet Apartment Three, revered by the Boston Globe for "fashioning a blend of blues, jazz and just enough pop," is another addition to the collection of origi- nal music presented locally by Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats, 320 Rehoboth Ave. The band plays at the brew pub on Friday, June 9. The group's signature jazz and blues infused sound, epitomized by its 1996 debut, Miles To Go, is carried over into its most recent release, Smiles From the Ashtray, debuted in late 1999, A non-stop touring schedule finds the band up and down the east coast. Apartment Three is slated to return to Rehoboth at Dogfish Head on Friday, July 7. Hinged by guitar/vocalists Dan Reggae band One Love will perform at Sir Guy's Restaurant and Pub on Sturday, June 10. For information, call 227-7616. Apartment Three's new CD takes a pop turn from the get-go, later taking a turn with blues and jazz tinged melodies and jagged guitar hooks. While not unlike the pop band genre of late, Apartment Three serves up a fresh, easy sound that showcases its musical ability. The Dogfish Head show starts at 10 p.m. For more information, call 226-BREW.
