Rehoboth Film Sodety to screen 'Run Lola Run' at June 15 meeting The Rehoboth Beach Film So- ciety will screen the multi award- winning festival sensation "Run Lola Run" (Lola Rhent, Ger- many), at 7 p.m., Thursday, June 15, upstairs at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats, 320 Rehoboth Avenue. Written, directed and scored by Tom Tykwer ("Deadly Maria," "Life Is All You Get," "Winter- sleepers") "Run Lolal Run" stars an electric red-haired Franka Po- tente ("Blow," "Anatomic," "The Princess and the Warrior"). By far the most honored film during the 1999-2000 period, Lola won top awards in 22 film festivals and award programs, including The Golden Space Needle for Best Film at the Seattle Interna- tional Film Festival, the Audi- ence Award at Sundance and eight German Film Awards, the German equivalent of the Oscars. The monthly film pick of board member Glenn Bowman, "Run Lola Run" will be screened and discussed at the society's month- ly meeting. Hailed as "an incomparable jolt of brilliant electricity," Lola is 81 minutes of non-stop kinetic ener- gy that incorporates every con- ceivable visual and editing tech- nique to propel the viewer into multiple tellings of the story of how Lola attempts to save the life of her drug-dealing boyfriend, Manni. The story begins when Lola, a stunning, flourescent red-haired punk, receives a frantic phone call from Manni (Moritz Bleibtreu), after she was unable to meet him because her motorbike was stolen. As a result, Manni took the train and absent-mindedly left the equivalent of $20,000 on the seat when he rushed off to avoid a po- lice officer.
