Obituaries Ward Holm Tanzer, author and professor Ward Holm Tanzer, age 81, died in his sleep in San Francisco, Calif., Monday, July 21, 1997. Mr. Tanzer was raised in Fres- no, Calif., and was grad- uated from Stanford Uni- versity in 1931. In 1942, he re- turned from a stay in Tahiti and served as an Intelli- TANZER gence Officer in the Naval Reserve in the South Pacific dur- ing World War II. After the war, Mr. Tanzer lived in Washington, D.C., where he worked for the federal government. He retired to Rehoboth Beach, and eventually became chairman of the English Department at Delaware Commu- nity & Technical College, Owens Campus. In 1984, he returned to San Francisco to live on Russian Hill. Mr. Tanzer will be remembered for his many talents. He was a published author, a dedicated in- structor and a wonderful piano player. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Virginia; a daughter, Catherine and a granddaughter, Dana. Contributions are suggested to the English Department, Delaware Technical & Communi- ty College, Owens Campus, P.O. Box 610, Georgetown, DE 19947. There will be no service. A scat- tering at sea is planned. Walter L. Campbell, retired farmer Walter L. Campbell, age 88, of rural Frankford, died Saturday, July 26, 1997 of heart failure at Millsboro Nursing Home in Mills- boro. Mr. Campbell was a retired farmer and poultry grower. He was a member of the Selbyville Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lizzie, in 1973. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; a son, George W. of Clarksville; a daughter, Mary O'Neal of Frankford; four grand- children; eight great grandchil- dren and a great-great grandson. Services were held in the Chapel of Melson's Funeral Ser- vices with burial in Carey's Cemetery. Green, Milton homemaker Dora L. Green, age 82, of rural Milton, died Saturday, July 26, 1997, of heart failure in Beebe Medical Center. Mrs. Green was a homemaker. She had worked at Suregood Poultry in Milford, retiring several years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Wilson, in 1969. She is survived by two sons, Horace Wilson of Georgetown, and Carl Wilson of Milton; two daughters, Lora Heck of Bridgeville and Patsy Huey of Milford; a sister Edna Shockley of Millsboro; a grandson, Roger King, whom she cared for; 15 oth- er grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Bellafiore, family service specialist Giovanna F. Bellafiore, age 28, of Ocean View, died Thursday, July 24, 1997 as a result of in- juries sustained after being struck by an automobile. Ms. Bellafiore worked for the Division of Family Services as a Family Service Specialist at the Pyle Center in Frankford. She was a graduate of the Uni- versity of Maryland, earning a B.A. in Social Psychology. She enjoyed needlepoint and fishing and loved her work with foster children. Ms. Bellafiore is survived by her parents, Giovanni Bellafiore and Carolyn M.
