Fine and Rare Wine Auction slated Aug. 26 in Rehoboth
The Mid-Atlantic Wine Auction
Company will hold its first Re-
hoboth Beach Fine and Rare Wine
Auction. Wine and Waves. from
4:30-7 p.m.. Aug. 28. at the Re-
hoboth Beach Convention Center.
"The Rehoboth auction is spe-
cial because we keep hearing that
the Rehoboth Beach and Bethany
Beach crowd really appreciates
extraordinary wine, said Mid-At-
lantic's vice president, Gary Rein-
er. "We are bringing the auction
to them so they can get a taste for
who we are and what we have to
offer. They won't be disappoint-
ed."
Mid-Atlantic specializes in
hard to find and older vintage
wines not readily accessible in
most parts of the country. One
hundred and fifty lots of excep-
tional California and French
wines have been assembled for
the Rehoboth auction. In a format
experiment, another 50 select lots
will be presented at silent auction
at this same event.
"Our selections appeal to casual
wine enthusiasts as well as the se-

The Big Thursday Festival and
Car Show has come and gone, but
there were plenty of winners dur-
ing the three-day event sponsored
by the Greater Millsboro Cham-
ber of Commerce Aug. 10-12.
Scott McMeekin of Lewes was
the big winner of the 50/50 draw-
ing on Saturday, Aug. 12, winning
over $2,600.
The Millsboro Pageant
crowned four winners Aug. 10,
including Emily Collins, the
daughter of Rob and Cindy
Collins, as Little Miss Millsboro.
The first runner up was Kara Sue
Bethke, daughter of Randy and
Candy Bethke.
Kristen Swenson, daughter of
Sven and Debra Swenson, was the
winner of the Juvenile Miss
Millsboro title. The first runner-
up was Courtney Colegrove, the
daughter of Alan and Stacey
Colegrove, and the second runner
up was Cassandra Short, the
daughter of Ronald and Gail
Short.
The new Junior Miss Millsboro
is Jessica Norwood, the daughter
of Robert and Julie Norwood,
with Brittany Proudfoot, the
daughter of Michael and Kimber-
ly Proudfoot the first runner up,
and Sara McCabe, the daughter of
Sewall and Julie McCabe as sec-
ond runner up. The winner of the
coveted crown of Miss Teen
Millsboro was Jessica Hudson,
the daughter of Kim and Tammy
Hudson.

auction site and transferred to the
successful bidders. We expect that
a lot of people will be enjoying
some great wines over the Labor
Day weekend."
Generally speaking, Mid-At-
lantic's auction selections include
wines ranging from the inexpen-
sive to the more extravagant - to
the outrageously desired. Mid-At-
lantic's brand new, 3,000-sq. ft.
temperature- and humidity-con-
trolled storage facility is designed
to keep these liquid assets secure-
ly protected under the best of con-
ditions.
California wines previously
auctioned by Mid-Atlantic include
cabernet sauvignon from Grace
Family, Dalla Valle, Harian Es-
tates, Turley, Dominus, Dunn,
Opus One, Caymus, Diamond
Creek and the extremely sought-
after Screaming Eagle. Bidders
can continue to expect some great
Bordeaux selections such as
Yquem, Petrus, Margaux, Mouton
Rothschild, Lafite Rothschild, La-
tour and Haut-Brion.
