Berry Patch Reproductions m Coolsprmg
By Jen Ellingsworth
Nestled in a shady nook of
Coolspring is Berry Patch Repro-
ductions, a woodworking business
specializing in the reproduction
and restoration of antique furni-
ture.
Owners Bob and Mary Lou
Berry started the business in 1989.
Bob, a Dewey Beach police

of the highway, where the Berrys

work. The items on display inside

ture originated by casket-making
Quakers in the early days to the
more elegant Queen Anne, Chip-
pendale and Hepplewhite pieces,
the Berry Patch is noted for its ac-
curacy of representation.
The shop is filled with works in
progress, including both restora-
tion and reproduction pieces. Bob
said most of his work is reproduc-
tion, while about 30 percent is-
restoration and 10 percent is craft
work.
Both restoration and reproduc-
tion processes are time-consum-
ing and require extensive knowl-
edge of furniture history and
craftsmanship. Bob's ability to
create such work is a hands-on
