Nominations for the 2002 Arts
& Humanities Award are being
accepted until Dec. 14. The award
is sponsored by Delaware Techni-
cal & Community College,
Owens Campus. The winner will
be announced in January with the
formal presentation at the annual
Spring Gala fundraiser,."Starry,
Starry Night" April 20. The award
honors an individual, business, or
organization for outstanding ac-
complishments in artistic or hu-
manitarian endeavors which have
had a positive impact on the com-
munity. Previous winners include
Gonzalo Martinez, Esq., 2001;
WSCL Public Radio, 2000;
Howard Pyle, 1999; Jack Lewis,
1998; and Howard Schroeder,
1997.

The Atlantic Sands Hotel &
Conference Center will host its
first annual New Year's Gala in
the Grand SwanBallroom from 8
p.m. to 2 p.m., Dec. 31.
The elegant setting overlooking
the Atlantic will be host to the
event, which will include five
hours of open bar, heavy hors
d'oeuvres, lavish food and dessert

The 1 of 52 Artists for Hunger
Network is an ongoing grassroots
program that is organizing 52 lo-
cal and national artists in each
state, each representing one week
of the year, who take action annu-
ally to help hunger.
Amore has been a i'epresenta-
tive from Rhode Island for the last
three years, since she was 12. She
has now become the first
Delaware member of the group af-
ter her move to Millsboro last
year.
She wrote and recorded a song
on CD, "The Time is Now," prof-
its from which will go to hunger
relief efforts.
Beryl Martin will join Amore in
playing and singing songs to raise
awareness of the hunger problem
that exists in Delaware. In
Delaware, nearly 10 percent of the
population are living in poverty.
The Food Bank of Delaware dis-
tributed almost 10 million of
pounds of food last year. _ •
This year donation have been
almost 50 percent lower than last
year's donations at this time.

kick up their heels. Party favors
